Yesterday my BF and I went to the city. We looked at some shops, had lunch and ended up in the local board game pub. I ended up buying two new games 😂 #Boardgames

Been procrastinating a bit and doing some speed tidying as a break from a big funding application. I was delighted to rediscover my ancient Scrabble box which was a 9th birthday present many, many moons ago. Freaky Frog has been the keeper of the tiles since the beginning and I made him in primary school - he was allegedly an oven glove but would have been a very ineffective one! #nostalgia #FrogsOfMastodon #BoardGames #Scrabble

Image of a very old and battered Scrabble board game. Bottom half of the image shows the lid of the box which has 'SCRABBLE' in white writing on a red background with most of the box being a dark green. Some tape marks, writing, torn areas and box is really quite knackered. Top half of the image shows the contents of the box. To the right are four grey tile racks. Then two cream racks with numbers on for score counting.. top left is a bright green felt frog which is the bag containing the scrabble tiles. Frog has pale blue slightly lopsided eyes, a very red smily mouth, bright blue bow tie then two large round red felt buttons on his body. Frog has two little 'arms' which appear to be raised so looks like he's happy dancing.

New comic! Sometimes it takes a new player at the table to realize which hobby things you’ve completely normalized…🥹😅

📜 You can read this week's blog post at:
semicoop.com/comic/sleeved-awa #boardgames

Panel 1: Heinze pets the orange cat Apollo sitting on the table. He says, “It’s so nice to play a game with you! We didn't know you liked board games.” Their friend, a woman with brown hair in a bun and glasses, smiles and replies, “I love playing board games! You just never asked.”

Panel 2: Rachel holds a fan of cards and says, “So, you’ll need four starting cards. Just pick any four.” The friend points at the deck suspiciously and asks, “Wait, what is wrong with these cards?”

Panel 3: Close-up of the friend examining a card. The card is inside a clear protective sleeve. She asks, “Why are these cards individually wrapped?” A reply off-panel says, “Oh, that’s just a sleeve…”

Panel 4: Heinze looks thoughtful with Apollo by his side. The friend holds up a sleeved card and asks, “Do I unwrap them now, or when I play them?” Heinze says, “I suddenly realise we’ve been living in a protective board game bubble…” The friend adds, “Like these cards?”

We played #ComicHunters at 3 players tonight and its such a fun drafting and set collection game. The production quality definitely did this game a disservice as I think a lot of people skip it just based on the cheap look.

The 10 YO ended up winning by going heavy into a Captain American collection.

Finally got my hands on a copy of the Wingspan Americas expansion and it's so much fun. Definitely a brain teaser at the beginning because there are so many moving parts, but the hummingbirds are both powerful and flexible. I even logged a personal best on our second game!

Me and my partner just played the #boardgame Flamecraft Duel for the first time, and it was really fun!! A really great 2-player game with absolutely amazing art. Here are my favorite cards! If you're looking for a new 2-player game, I highly recommend this one!

Arche Nova (2021) & Splendor Duel (2022)
2P; 170 & 50 min; 20:4 🙂 & 20:19 🙂
