From yesterday at the edge of the boatyard.Teasels just beginning to pop in among the rape and grasses and not sure what else.
#boatyard #bloomscrolling

Cerise/purplish teasels and yellow flowers on the rape with a background of grass greens, nettle and fennel.

Today’s sketch was in a nearby boat repair yard, what a jumble of stuff. If I had a rust coloured pen with me I’d have added colour. #dailysketching #dailysketchbook #boatyard #rust

Ain't nobody here but us pigeons
#boatyard

The part cut up Llys Helig has become a pigeon roostBagsy this berth when we launch (which is still some time off). View from the rowing dinghy mooring pontoon to the right with a fishing boat tied up alongside, the saltmarsh to the left at high water.

The arid brownfield - to put it mildly - back garden is coming along nicely all on its own. Looking forward to seeing any of the teasels that make it through untrampled.

View between the stern of the boat and the retaining wall, a patch of the boatyard with teasels, grasses, buddlea all doing their very best to thrive.

It's probably time to open up the tent. and make coffee. and do stuff.

Back at the #boatyard. What sort of person names a boat Loyal Governor?
Dreamcatcher seems a more popular choice though.
#AwayWithTheFaeries

Loyal Governor is the name on the bow of this old coasting shipDreamcatcher number one in the yard, recently sold through the brokerage here, has a quite unique interior. Ketch rigged deep bilge Keeler. Very interesting yacht if you like twin keels.Dreamcatcher number two, sloop rigged fin keel Moody 35, serious money.

And the reverse view in the fading light, off the bow of the yachtlet, the new infatuation and mothership to be?

Back to the #boatyard, as first part of an epic jaunt for the Pali flag. It's so
peaceful here of a bank holiday weekend.
#TOWIE

Cloudy sky, pylon, shed, buddlea, the retaining wall of old tyres as permanent formwork. Feet up on a step ladder resting bad knee and newly bad foot (don't ask).

And so, another blissed out #Boatyard evening. Getting ready to cook the three Ps - pasta, peas and pesto. Some snaps from earlier.

Wondering who Crum might've been, who should've lived forever and fucked the pigs, according to the graffiti at the top of the wall of the building to the left. High water neapish at the millhead from the rowing dinghy. Is that a whole bank of self-seeded oil seed rape next to the toilet block on the edge of the boatyard?

Big 'Sonnenuntergang' sky.

Been on a mission, are we perhaps going to buy ourselves an elderly gentleman's motor yacht? (Or at least have a punt with a very low offer when no-one is buying these days?)

Quick question for the lubberly, is it acceptable to stow the Lidl Finest Blended Malt along with the Meths and the White Spirit and - look away now - the very best Burgess Woodseal, or would that be the total breakdown of etiquette? Anyways, #boatyard epicurean adventure commencing shortly.

The 'ship's galley' cum workbench all neatly arranged prior to starting on supper.

Been standing out on the stern lazarette of the boat for a bit in the fading light coz here on the edge of Essex it's actually raining, nothing significant so far but still real existing rain.

And a different sort of evening sky for the beer before tidy up time and heading for the station and home and bath rather than hearth.
#boatyard

A less windy more overcast sort of sky compadtto yesterday's. With some breaks in the cloud giving occasional short spells of sunshine.
2025-05-05

It's also a nice place for an evening beer out of the howling wind in the lee of another dry dock. (Admittedly the wind has died down a bit but has been irksome all day long.)

Latest on the rumour mill is having cut away all of the superstructure they then went on to discover the hull is filled with concrete which prevents them going any further with ozxy-acetylene torches. They've welded up the front gate of the dry dock, craned all the scrap metal back aboard as it'd've been problematic bringing haulage trucks round to this very far corner of the boatyard, and are planning to tow it to Erith for demolition.
Also the newest owner unsuccdessfully tried a crowdfunder to get other people to help pay for its restoration before stripping out the interior fittings.

Big evening skies, more pylons than you could shake a stick at, and an unfortunate butchers' apron.
