And the comments to my reply are worse. Here’s the thing: Punching down on fat people isn’t funny - it’s hurting a marginalised group. There are a myriad of reasons why people are fat, and in the vast majority of cases, it has nothing to do with being a lazy ‘fat fuck’ who can’t be arsed cooking or going out to get food. Rather, it involves complex issues such as socioeconomic status, food availability (and deserts), chronic illness and disability, mental illness, iatrogenic medicine (eg many medications esp for mental illness cause weight gain), racism, and other intersecting factors. @betootaadvocate can and should be better than this. Now, rather than trying to become "big enough", I am working on undermining the belief that there was anything wrong with my body to begin with. My body has and will change over the years, and I want to embrace and respect it however it looks or performs.
Being bigger, smaller, thinner, thicker, fitter, more lean or muscular does not make you a better (or worse) person, more (or less) ttractive, or more (or less) deserving of love.

Eigentlich bin ich eine starke Verfechterin der #BodyNeutrality. Du musst ja nicht jedes neue Fettpölsterchen gleich lieben, aber lächelnd schulterzuckend akzeptieren kannst du es.

You can't compare "obesity" to "smoking" or "cigarettes." One is a body shape. The others are an action and a product respectively. You could arguably compare certain types of food to cigarettes but even then, all food has *some* nutritional benefit, whereas there is no safe amount of smoking.
