#cities in the western #usa are always a bit of an enigma with how they are laid out.
You have massive, densely populated areas that never seem to end, and then when you get to the end of them society just disappears entirely. In front of me is the #losangeles National Forest where I sit with nothing but wildlife and mountains.
Behind me are millions.
Then absolutely nothing for miles around except small towns.
Same goes for #portland #seattle #boise and #sanfrancisco.
Shadow Hills is now my favorite place in Los Angeles and I am a block away from literal mountains and hiking trails.
I have a park across the street.
There's also a small mountain range between me and the rest of Hell (AKA #losangeles) and I have found the friendliest neighborhood in LA county.
Reminds me of the Foothills in #boise Idaho.
Think I'll stay here forever and never go anywhere again. I am now retired at 32 after almost dying like 12 times.

I counted about 12 bikes and 12 lucky dogs, along with 1 cormorant in Boise Cascade Lake. They have not yet all flown the coop.

It always puzzles me that while so many local cyclists also ski or snowboard, they will not get on their bike if it’s below 40. You already own all the gear. Layer up and ride!
