How Do Book Clubs Find You?

Writers often ask, “How do I find book clubs?—but the better question might be, “How do book clubs find me—and my book?”…

It was an evening of thoughtful discussion and excellent questions at Carysue’s book club last night. The overall theme was how l readers learned enough to correct some of their stereotypes. We even learned that one of the esteemed book club members members stripped on a table once!!

ICYMI: I've been testing the "book club" functionality on The Book Radar and I think it's pretty cool. Would love to see more people give it a try. This month's read is "The House at the End of Lacelean Street" by Catherine McCarthy!

Ann Walmsley - The Prison Book Club

About books and about prison, and about people connecting despite fears and differences. A friend asks Ann to help with choosing books for the book club in a men's prison, and that leads to her venturing "inside". Thoughtful, gently reflective memoir, with most names and a few details changed.

🏳️‍🌈 📖 Queer Romance Club OCTOBER selection — All of Us Murderers by KJ Charles 📖 🏳️‍🌈

ETA: depending on your time zone, this book should be out now, at your favourite retailer or library

WHO WILL SURVIVE LACKADAY HOUSE?

When Zeb Wyckham is summoned to a wealthy relative's remote Gothic manor, he is horrified to find all the people he least wants to see in the world: his estranged brother, his sneering cousin, and his bitter ex-lover Gideon Grey. Things couldn't possibly get worse.

Then the master of the house announces the true purpose of the gathering: he intends to leave the vast family fortune to whoever marries his young ward, setting off a violent scramble for her hand. Zeb wants no part of his greedy family—but when he tries to leave, the way is barred. The walls of Lackaday House are high, and the gates firmly locked. As the Dartmoor mists roll in, there's no way out. And something unnatural may be watching them from the house's shadowy depths…

Fear and paranoia ramping ever-higher, Zeb has nowhere to turn but to the man who once held his heart. As the gaslight flickers and terror takes hold, can two warring lovers reunite, uncover the murderous mysteries of Lackaday House—and live to tell the tale?

Two men in suits fleeing from a creepy Gothic mansion, done in a slightly garish pulp fiction style. One of the men has dark, very messy hair and is dishevelled, the other looks much neater.

The title, All of Us Murderers, is in a large and kind of 70s font in yellow (to match the yellow light shining menacingly in the windows of the mansion).

The tagline across the top reads “love. Hate. Secrets. It’s in the blood.”
