Our forthcoming annual Derry Radical Bookfair marks our 10th annual event in Derry. The image we have used as part of this year’s poster is that of local republican activist Martina Donnelly (RIP), nee Quigley, on the streets during the 1970’s. The use of Bin lids was seen as an early warning system for the local community to highlight the imminent danger of British troops in the area. A very proud Derry woman, Martina raised her family with a love of books, community and revolution.

had a nice (but crowded) time at the anarchist book fair workshops today, specifically the one about not owning a phone! lots of great convos, philosophies, and modes of existence without cell phone!

lots of interest about, and shoutouts for @cwtch, @delta, and @briar -- e2ee (group) messengers that dont require a phone number (as a replacement for @signalapp)

lots of interest in #U2F, #FIDO2 hardware #2FA devices (as a replacement for SMS or push). i also recommend @keepassxc for keeping TOTP tokens!

really appreciated hearing all the side conversations about @tails, @Mastodon, and other decentralized tech

Today is our annual Activist Fair.

From 11am to LATE. we will have Dunbar Hall off St Machar Drive in #Aberdeen #Scotland.
There will be teas/coffees, vegan rowies, and other food from Food not Bombs.

There will be stalls, workshops, books, and more local activists than you can shake a stick at, though we wouldn't advise it.

Copies of our anthology Every Page A Portal by the Story Forge Writing Collective have arrived at the collectives' HQ, so at writing group this week we can spot all the typos we missed :P

The book launch is November 22nd at the North Sydney Yacht Club (23 Seaview Drive, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia), 12pm to 5pm but I'll share a link around that date if you want to get a copy for yourself, including my short story "Things We Lose When We Fall In Love" but there's a wide array of genres represented, from fantastical to creepy to escapist to SF noir, all around the subject of "portals".

At the book fair we'll have at least a dozen local authors selling books and some readings, as well as craft, a book swap (bring your old books, leave with new old books!), some kind of prize draw (working on that), and a lot of fun.

Had a good time at the Manchester & Salford Anarchist Book Fair this past weekend. It was wild attending a workshop on Tkoronto-based Kai Cheng Thom's work (not given by Kai Cheng Thom, but she was credited); as well as coming across a number of books based on Indigenous resistance and the Turtle Island context. Glad to see some of these ideas traveling to the UK.

The Anarchist Book Fair Amsterdam opens for visitors at 11:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.

You can find all the stands and some of the workshops at the Dokhuis (Plantage Doklaan 8)

The workshops start at 12:00 on both days and end at 19:00 on Saturday and 18:00 on Sunday.

Most of the workshops will be at the the
Wereldhuis (Nieuwe Herengracht 18)

and some workshops at the Rapenburg (Rapenburg 51)
