DAY 6 - Cycling south UK. After a good night and a sturdy breakfast at the campsite I walked up to Ashhole Cavern and to Berry Head with its lighthouse for a nice cup of tea. After several intense days of climbing I was hoping to have an easier ride and catch the ferry in Brixham to Torquay. Unfortunately all ferries were cancelled due to the stormy weather. So no visit of the Golden Hinde, the ship of Captain Francis Drake, and a ride to Torquay instead. The 16km, +300m route went smoother than expected, with a nice Seaside Esplanade ride in old coastal town Paignton. I arrived in Torquay to visit Kent's Caverns shortly after noon. The guided tour in the Caverns (

After some tea & scones I went on my way for the last 13k, +280m to Shaldon where I was very warmly welcomed by Warmshower hosts Richard and Judy, who had their son and grandchildren over. We chatted, had dinner, and did a little tour around the city. Quiet evening with card games, tea, and some tellie.
