The first Trout Lily spotted this spring. Spring ephemerals are the opening act in the forest, lifting the spirits of hikers and pollinators. Also out are Colts Foot, Bloodroot, Snowdrops, Hepatica, and Trilliums are in bud.

Put away the skis, and got in first hike of the season. Over half of the #BruceTrail is closed due to #IceStorm damage and debris clean up. Got in 22 KM yesterday before the Sydenham section was “closed”.

It’s incredibly peaceful here on this #SilentSunday when the equipment isn’t running. This is the view from “The Gap” (87M2G2QW+53) along the #BruceTrail in Milton, Ontario. #Hiking

From a very high lookout point along the Bruce Trail, this is a massive scale aggregate pit (quarry). In the foreground, there are five lanes where gravel trucks can get information from the office. In the background is a huge pile of gravel along with a gravel truck loading building that might be ten stories high! There are conveyors connecting the piles of gravel to this building. The site is closed down for the day so it’s very quiet here now.

Tiffany Falls in Ancaster, Ontario. One of numerous waterfalls around the Hamilton area. The beauty in nature is always a balm for the psyche.

There's a spot out on the Bruce Peninsula that not many folks know about. I stumbled upon it accidentally over a decade ago and have occasionally contributed to it. If you go into those woods today, you're in for a big surprise. Here's what @Knightky and I found this morning. 1/11 #TeddyBear #Plushies #HauntedForest #creepy #CreepyToy #CursedItem #BruceTrail #hiking #forest

A weathered, mouldy looking sloth stuffy clings to a tree in a forest.A rotten stuffed toy nailed overhead to a maple tree.Autumn leaves and moss. Hidden amongst the leaves are the remains of a white teddy bear. All the stuffing has been pulled out.The unidentifiable, rotted remains of some sort of stuffed toy way up a massive maple tree.

Granddaughter and her Dad climbing up a steep section of the Bruce Trail yesterday. We're lucky that the trail is only a 30-minute hike from our house, connected by smaller paths just across the road.

A photo looking down a steep climb up a cliff on the Bruce Trail. There is a chain along the cliff face to hang onto, and large trees are growing out of the rocks. The total height of this section is approximately 50 metres.

Cody Taylor is getting ready to do what he calls "the ugly shuffle." Wearing a roughly 24-kilogram backpack carrying enough food and gear for 13 days, the runner leaves from Queenston, Ont., in Niagara on Friday. He's seeking to break a record for the fastest unsupported run along the over-900-kilometre-long Bruce Trail.

We are headed home now. So grateful I was able to hike to the lookout on such a beautiful day and have our lunch in peace. This little bird hung out with us. When we headed back, we met the crowds. We went at the best possible time, when we had the trail mostly to ourselves. #hiking #BruceTrail #BrucePeninsula #cliffs #GeorgianBay
