#tech #usb #cabling #random #thoughts In the mists of time cables were frequently shielded twisted single fibre copper wire until they were soldered into a jack plug or USB connector. Used in a variety of situations from charging to unit to unit connectivity. Now it seems totally random twisted copper and very iffy at either USB end. I know it's material and labour intensive but I'd pay the difference, Over the course of the last year I've 'burnt through' at least 12 such cables. #justsaying

Okay so I cast on at the hem/ribbing for a new jumper in the second-smallest size, and holy shit this pattern is huge.

Based on this, it’s already wider than the one I just finished (which is at least 10cm wider in the chest than I would have liked) 😅

I’m gonna have to try down to the smallest size AND use smaller needles. Thankfully it’s supposed to have a bit more ease, but woah.

If I’d read allllll the comments it would have helped… I might have bought 8 ply yarn instead of 10 ply!

Also I think casting on at the hem and using the rib and lower part of the body might be a good way for me to figure out sizing/gauge. At least a better approximation than doing a gauge swatch 😅

In this case, I have two #PoE devices (a camera and an access point) and I don't want to spend 100€ on a PoE passthrough switch (plus the energy it will consume from now on...)

Sigh.

Ground must have settled a bit, and it shattered my LB conduit box. So, into the crawlspace to feed the Ethernet out, cut the old box off, install the new box (I intentionally left one join dry, so if it needs to settle further hopefully the join will pull apart instead of shattering the box).

One more trip into the crawlspace to hook everything up again, but I stopped for a beer first (this is thirsty work).

I want to run an Ethernet cable upstairs.There's a unused aerial cable that already does that (goes up a hole in the lounge room ceiling into the room upstairs). Going to presume the best way to thread the Ethernet cable through that existing hole is to tie is to the aerial end then go upstairs and pull that old aerial cable and the Ethernet cable tied to it up?
