- they profit from ads
- it costs money to prevent it
- Free speech "reasons"
- the networks are designed to be porous and vulnerable to reduce revenue "friction"
- governments are "captured" by the networks
- allowing misinformation is a source of power to achieve the network's other objectives

Rallies don't vote. Polls don't vote either.
Its hard to look at the Conservative platform and think any working class Canadian would get ahead with those policies. There is nothing that addresses the affordability crisis. Lowering income tax doesn't change how much corporations charge for things. Allowing private corporations to set up shop for resource extraction doesn't make the average Canadian any wealthier or have access to good quality services like healthcare. Commodity housing doesn't become less of a commodity because the first $1m of the asking price is tax free. Homelessness, drug abuse, mental health crises, these things aren't fixed with harsh and stern policing. The list goes on.
Austere policies are only put in place to keep powerful people powerful. The issues facing Canadians are systemic and neither major party seems to want to address the root cause of the problems.
If you actually needed another reminder that #PrestonManning is bereft of any sense of decency then his threat of western separation if his preferred candidate loses should help.
We need more leaders with the calm and poise of this one:

While politicians beat on about tariffs and tax cuts, I remember that there are people living their lives and helping others.
This photo essay shows their humanity, which they've had to fight for against indifference and apathy, while their loved ones suffer and die.
If all your political party knows is hate, anger, and attack then this is the expect outcome without exception.
