Cars and trucks have gotten really expensive since the COVID pandemic. The California State Legislature is about to make buying a car even more costly. There's a bill, SB 791, that will allow car dealers to charge up to $350 in doc fees (currently $85 max). It's a cash grab by car dealers.

My wife was advised to start looking for her next #motability car much earlier than usual - so we've been to visit 4 car dealers in #leicester today.
Three of the four had no disabled parking places available for their customers.
Vauxhall & MG had cones preventing access to the disabled spaces.
Renault had no parking spaces for anyone - the only obvious disabled space had a demonstrator car parked in it.
Hyundai passed the test (and were extremely welcoming & helpful).
I think this shows how they view not only their disabled customers, but all customers.
It's a disgrace.

Bloody car dealers! I'm watching a few different cars online. At 13:26, I get an email - a 3k increase on one of my watched cars. Dammit!
TWO MINUTES LATER, at 13:28, I get an email proudly announcing a 3k price cut. Yeah nah. The reduced price is the same price they were asking at 13:25... Yep, it only went up for 2 mins, purely so they can BS that they've cut the price.
I quite like their salesdroid, but their sales manager makes me question their trustworthiness.

I bring in my car to the dealership for two services:
1 - A recall (this requires the dealer)
2 - an oil and filter change (I could get this done anywhere, but want to combine the visit).
The service department identifies almost four thousand dollars of additional service they want to perform. Some small fraction of it is necessary.
Then I get a call from the dealership wanting to buy my car. I tell them no. They persist. I tell them no. They persist. I hang up.
This is why people don't like going to the dealership stealership ! Respect your customers and they will love you. Treat them like this? They will avoid you.

I was fairly confident that mine was an original part, and it was (for my car) just a matter of taking the old card out and putting the new card in. The most complicated part was not electronic at all but was the bloody fiddly spring that held the front panel on that had to be removed to get at the card slot, and then put back.
I didn't bother with forums. I don't trust that sort of thing. Fortunately, the upgrade procedure was in the manual. (-:
