Starting next week: the eighth novelette, "Beauty." Available now as a chapbook, or collected in vol. 1, “Wake up…”

No. 8, “Beauty.” Looking up at a traffic light hung from a heavy cable stretched at a sharp angle across a street, or an intersection, a streetlight, unlit, behind, above, all under a soft grey sky. Slung from a lighter parallel wire a pair of yellow high-heeled slingbacks, tied together by a bit of rope and tossed up to dangle there, so high.

"Gin-soaked," the seventh novelette, is almost done: the last fit appears tomorrow, or, you can secure a paper copy for yourself:

No. 7, “Gin-soaked.” At the far end of a parking lot, under a delicate evening sky, a red-roofed onion-domed church, small, but rich, a gable of the roofs below the dome figured with a golden Marian cross. Behind the church, a couple of freeway ramps stacked one atop another climb toward an unseen bridge, away off in the distance, perhaps.

Novelette no. 4 is also available on paper: a 36-page zine, 3 staples, and a full-color cover!

No. 4, “a-Hunting.” The second-floor balcony of an empty shopping mall, at night; the lights are low, and the storefronts dark, except for one down on the ground floor, midway down the length of the mall, shining too brightly to make out anything within. Past it, a bridge links the balconies on either side beneath arched glass ceilings. The kiosks out on the floor below are draped with pale blue cloths, waiting for tomorrow.

The second novelette is also available as a paper chapbook, if you'd rather not wait for the online serialization—

No. 2, “Fidessa.” The portico of a brick-faced Masonic temple; great white columns stretch up to a high roof above the second storey, and great high mullioned and muntinned window criss-crossed by a simple grille over the front door. The bottom floor of the temple has been taken over by a shop called Jambo World Crafts, and an Indian restaurant; flags and lights and outfits are hung about the opened doors. A sandwich board for Smokin’ Glass has been set up on the sidewalk.

HEAR YE HEAR YE, I did a video-reading of what I think is the most entertaining poem from my new #OurFlagMeansDeath microchapbook from The Ethel Zine Press.

It's a love-poem from Lucius to Pete, _and_ it's about having crushes on other people even when you're deeply partnered, and how that's OK. You can find it here!

It's amazingly nice to be read. And I am a fan of Liz Ahl's poetry, so 😍

Photo shows an Instagram post by @surlypages, with an image of the cover-art of And We Are Far From Shore: Poems For Our Flag Means Death (https://www.ethelzine.com/and-we-are-far-from-home). The art consists of two skeletal lovers facing each other, faces pressed together above the shared heart centered between their ribcages. Photo also includes a thank-you note from Ethel, the publisher, written on translucent yellow vellum featuring an image of a standing grizzly bear in a flowing wig.

In hopes of a #scholarly #research favor:
Does anyone here have institutional access to the John Johnson Collection (archive of printed ephemera)?
@noorka is trying to find out whether this archive includes #c18th #chapbooks but TTU does not have institutional access. Might someone be willing to take a quick look for us? Thanks so much!
