Coffeeshop's WiFi is not working so I plan to finish brushing up basic stats today.
Seems like Chi-square is a really crude and limited technique. Here are my concerns about it:
1. Combining and splitting subgroups might lead to significant changes to the final score.
2. It seems mathematically shaky to add up the squared values of normalized scores, and there's no renormalization based on the way the categorization is done.

最尤法とカイ二乗検定の基礎

対数尤度比を使ったカイ二乗検定の基礎であるWilkdの定理について書いたもつもり。細部がテキトーなので注意。

Taylor展開、大数の法則、中心極限定理、実対称行列の線形代数、中学校レベルの平方完成の組み合わせ。

ところで、全然違う話になるが、最尤法はローカルマキシマムがあるとき、相当にうざいことになる。

ベイズ推定法のMCMCでもローカルマキシマムが高いとそこに登ってしまってトラップされてなかなか降りて来なくなったりする。それでも自動的に色々やってくれるから、人間的にはこちらの方が楽かも。
