my choir (Vancouver Jewish Folk Choir) has been having a harder time than usual finding a replacement alto section lead since our old one left town for school. if you know someone in #Vancouver who would be open to singing in in a progressive secular Jewish choir (lot of Yiddish, but also English, Hebrew, Ladino, etc.) please pass it along. it's a paid position one evening a week plus occasional concerts.

Uploading some images from #YIVO to Wikimedia Commons this morning and came across this excellent booklet cover from the Freiheit Gezang Farein's 13th anniversary event in 1936. A communist-affiliated Yiddish choir from New York which is one of the predecessor's of today's (non-communist) Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus.
