#ChuckJones was one of the artists that had the biggest impact on developing
#BugsBunny. He was a hard progressive/FDR Social Democrat if not a full on leftist as he had to hide it after the McCarthy era (helped by
#Disney) if he ever wanted to work again. When he was young in the 30s he set up a guillotine in front of the Disney studio during a worker's strike. Under artists before him, Bugs would often screw with people just for fun. Under Jones, Bugs was always just fighting back in self-defense as the little guy.
Jones ran his studios much more horizontally, as opposed to the top-down dictatorial system Disney had where artists would wait for weeks after reaching a point, sitting around and waiting for their dear leader to come in the night before and look at their work, then have to present the work the next day as if he had never seen it before in a very subservient manner.
Bugs was the confident every man, he's always been left leaning towards chaos and anarachy/ism. There is a reason Chuck Jones' Bug resonates so much. Disney was pushing the monarchism/authoritarianism narratives from times past(also doesn't help that Disney welcomed members of the Nazi party to his studios just after Kristallnacht), Jones was pushing the self-determination/out witting the overwhelming odds with a grin and a joke just as Jones and his parents had been forced to deal with under the constant oppression of union busters.
