It took a while, and a lot of trial and error but finally got the wgpu to work and play nicely with the rest of the crates.
The rendering isn't quite where I would like for it to be, it some routines just need to be tweaked an I think I will get the quality output I am looking for.
Piping things through wgpu has proven more trickier than I had anticipated. Could get pixels to draw directly upon the canvas but when it came piping the images or fonts through specialized APIs, that is when the graphic handling seemed to choke and have problems.
Will be spending most of the day, trying to wire the graphics in, I would say we are 55 - 70% close to having bleeding edge Cinder ready.
It's always that last 30%.
The foundation of Cinder is done man! After a twenty four hour bug fix, going back and forth with Rust over number of arguments the hardest part of the browsing engine is now complete.
Next on the list is wiring it up to the renderer so that we can actually put something on the canvas.
Made big moves today with regards to the Cinder block (Cinder engine):
Parsed HTML & CSS into structured trees
Matched styles using custom StyledNode logic
Built our first real layout engine with block box models
End-to-end rendering pipeline booted up!
It’s early, but this is real browser core territory — and it's working.

I've used many creative coding frameworks before and in C++, I've used OpenFrameworks and Cinder. If you're just making art, you probably have no issues with them, but if you're somewhat familiar with programming, you'll quickly come to the issue where both frameworks aren't properly structured to be distributable libraries. i.e. their build system is very opinionated and unflexible.
This week I've been trying out Raylib and love (1) the ease of installation, (2) the ease with which you can incorporate it into C/C++ projects and (3) the amount of bindings it has (owing to it's simple API). It also has everything you need for creative coding.
Was just running through which #macintosh models I have and stepped out for a minute and returned to see Cinder as the #catintosh.
Big smiles for me.

#MetaThreads looks very much alive after being launched less than 24 hours ago. I already see musicians I respect, journalists I follow, and random friends pop up there. Apparently over 5 million signups in the first 4 hours.
What you might not know is that the backend is built with #Python 3.10, using Instagram's #Cinder fork that includes a JIT, lazy-loaded modules, pre-compiled static modules, and a bunch of other interesting tweaks against vanilla Python 3.10.

A rescue collected from a gravel access road in a gravel pit high in the Cascades. A then stunted growth Pinus Contorta (Lodgepole Pine) that had been run over and was destined for the plow or wholesale removal as the gravel operation proceeded.
Dug up with a copious amount of native cinder around it and used nothing else for soil than that cinder…unsorted or screened to remove fines…just as was.
It has doubled in height in 3 years and gained an inch in the trunk girth. Needles are much longer now as the growing conditions much less harsh.
Time to make some decisions about future direction for this tree.
Likely into a large-ish pot to begin refinement:drop needle size back to scale.
I finished TOTK a few weeks ago and the ending was so amazing I got inspiration to do a quick drawing. 10/10! Game of the year!
