Used the cheap but surprisingly effective portable wifi digital microscope to zoom in very close on the thick golden-yellow clematis threads to show that they appear to be made up of many 100s of smaller threads bundled together.

Took this photo outside with the microscope tipped sideways to get sunlight on the threads!

The threads are illuminated with sunlight and it’s easy to see that each thick curved thread is made up of many hundreds of extremely thin threads.

At random intervals along the thick threads small clusters of the thin threads extend away from the curve and end.

I love this stage of a Clematis flower when the sun late in the afternoon is glinting of the yellow-gold spiral whorl of thick threads that are left after the petals fall off! Zooming in close on the thick golden-yellow threads show that they appear to be made up of 100s of smaller threads bundled together.
