Grays on the screen are not always gray on the printed page. Every printer is different. Likely, every toner brand is different. I have a mix of off-brand and genuine HP toner in this printer at the moment.

Printing directly from Indesign vs from an exported PDF can result in a crazy range of results depending on the PDF export settings. (Someone should write a white paper on this.)

Don't get me started on the differences between Acrobat and Preview. Preview is an amazing program in many respects, but DO NOT use it for faithful color reproduction of a PDF. (Someone should file a Feedback on this.) #design #color #CMYK 2/2

I have a full color “human-focused" version of my resume that has areas of gray behind logos and text. This morning I went down a rabbit hole about printing grays on my particular color laser printer that has all four toner (CMYK) cartridges.

(I recognize taking a photo of a printed document and then uploading it here is next to meaningless when trying to covey printed color, so I omitted it.)

I was getting pink in my lower left #000000 at 10% opacity and was confused—at first. But then I opened the color picker and saw the CMYK breakdown.

Some highlights from my last stream, the colors are getting more complex. Figuring out different ways to mix the CMYK palette has been a really fun challenge. Really liking the magenta shadows on the blue shapes.

Today's October #Art #Challenge #drawing was … a challenge. Halfway in the #inking process i got the idea to try out how much #colour I can get out of my inks, being blue, red, yellow and black (so basically #CMYK). I'm very surprised by the result and also very satisfied.

Dear #RStats , I tend to use #ggplot2 for my plots and the #viridis color palette. However, if I need to print a poster, the printing services always change the palette to a #cmyk palette. Is there any way to use in #ggplot2 a #cmyk palette resembling #viridis ? Thanks!

Recently I designed a business card with the new #gimp, using the new #cmyk export to tiff. Two print services told me the file was broken. One of them even asked if it was made with the new gimp, because they know that it's export is broken. I converted to CMYK tiff with #graphicsmagick , worked like a charm.
