The 4 Swedish Flower hen chicks hatched in May are 9 weeks old.

I thought the darker cockerel will probably look like the oldest rooster but looking back at his photos he was a lot whiter at the same age. I guess I'll get a darker version of that, and if the other white one is male then it might be closer to the old man. The last 3 photos are the older rooster from 2018 and today.

Four 9 week old chickens. The two in the back are mostly white with some black and brown or buff marks, and the two in the front are darker with the left one being a pullet wit a dark brown back with tan marks and white and black marks elsewhere and the one on the right is a cockerel with white black silver markings.

The oldest rooster today, July 8, 2024. 6 years later he still likes coming up on the porch to get away from other roosters or just see if I have some food for him, and in this case he was inside and I put him out to take the photo. ;) He has a silver main and back, black and white elsewhere.

Enjoy the moments while they last because soon the best you get is a dirty look when you're not sharing food.

Church bells
Cocks crowing
Cows mooing
Dung on the roads

It’s ok to complain though when someone’s cow escapes because it’s frightened by church bells, runs round the village mooing (ideally with a washing-line full of clothes wrapped round its horns) and then craps in the road when startled by a cock. Most of this happened in my last village.
