And it's about to be #coneflower and #lily season, for sure.

One of these years I need to dig all of these out and put a real soil mixture in this bed. This is mostly natural #Memphis clay with junk potting soil making it into the planting holes over the years. No top dressing or amendments in a decade, at least, and I rarely even water here, but these guys DGAF. Coneflowers and lilies would grow on the Moon, I bet.

Now, to get the veggies into the ground... Always more to do in the #garden

A janky-looking garden bed outside a home in Memphis, TN. This is the "junk bed." The soil is mostly natural clay and the only things that ever live here are perennials that take care of themselves, and weeds. Coneflowers and lilies have sprouted and are beginning to grow. One of the coneflower plants even has a bud on it already. Way in the back, center, is a cut-leaf grape fern that's about to die for the year. It's a neat uninvited guest, so I leave it around.

Wild Berry Coneflower by Debra Martz A few Coneflowers started growing in one of my container pots this past Spring. Possibly "planted" by a bird as they enjoy the seeds of the ones I have planted in a flower bed. Of course, it could perhaps been dispersed by the wind as we have more than our fair share of it in northern Oklahoma.
