Ein Kormoran im Wasser, er holt aus zu tauchen,man sieht seinen Kopf, Schnabel – Richtung Wasseroberfläche.

Der Kormi taucht ins Warnowwasser ein. Man sieht die Flügelspitzen, einige Wassertropfen und den Rücken.

Der Kormoran ist fast eingetaucht, man sieht die Schwanzfedern, Platscher.

Man sieht die Füße, Schwanzfedern – aber nur noch ein büschen. Wasserspritzer. Kormi ist auf Tachstation.

Ein im Flug fotografierter Kormoran mit weit ausgebreiteten Flügeln in seitlicher Ansicht. Der Vogel ist überwiegend schwarz gefärbt, mit langem Hals und kräftigem, leicht gebogenem Schnabel. Am Schnabelansatz ist eine gelbliche Hautpartie erkennbar. Der Hintergrund ist stark unscharf und zeigt gelb-grüne Herbstvegetation. Es handelt sich um einen Kormoran (Phalacrocorax carbo).

The upper half of a bird with dark plumage and long neck can be seen on this photo. It looks right, so we can see one of its green eyes, as well as its yellow beak base. The beak itself is grey and ends in a very sharp looking hook that points downwards. The background shows the surface of a pond, glistening in warm evening light.

Kormorane brüten in Kolonien auf Felsenklippen oder auf Bäumen. Der Kot verätzt häufig die Blätter, weswegen die Bäume oftmals kahl sind. Da sie sich vor allem von Fischen mit 10-20 cm Körperlänge ernähren, besiedeln die Kormorane fischreiche, große Gewässer.

Birdwatching in a city park today. I don't usually see cormorants or white-crowned sparrows here, only closer to the coast. So that was a nice surprise!

As for the ducks and squirrel, the squirrel climbed down a tree, then scampered across the dirt and wood chips to the path, pausing here as if to make sure the ducks weren't going to follow.

A bird swimming on a pond, its wings folded. Its eyes are weirdly close to its long, hooked beak. In the distance a shoreline can be seen with a few turtles and some sort of bushes with green leaves. The surface of the pond ripples a bit, reflecting mostly green from the surrounding plants.

Two mallards, one male (green head, brown neck, white body) and one female (mostly brown), both ducks with orange legs and webbed feet, stand almost but not quite facing each other on a surface of dirt, wood chips and dried leaves. Behind them, a bushy-tailed squirrel glances back from the edge of a curving brick path, as if to confirm they aren't following.
