I now bank with a regional credit union that, although diverse in its locations, is found more often in conservative-leaning communities.
Imagine my pleasant surprise to log onto their portal today to read "We're Closed Thursday June 19, for Juneteenth National Independence Day."
This is notable for two reasons. First, even in normal political climates, it's difficult to find businesses that recognize Juneteenth as an observed holiday. Second, I've not heard Juneteenth framed this way, but I think this is a rather positive viewpoint.

Haii #Vancouver , I'm looking to open a credit onion account, and would appreciate any recommendations — I'm having difficulty trying to distinguish each of them based only on what is advertised on their websites, and personal insight/experience would really help w/ clarifying the issue.
A (non exhaustive list) of some priorities for me:
1) No investments in military industry
2) No investments in environmentally/socially dead-end industries

@yak So this is an interesting thing. Obviously the functionality required by the #PostOffice is to a degree bespoke - but not considering ownership was a critial failure of the contracting process.
Interestingly I think that there is something that every #creditunion that outsources its #corebanking and other IT should consider - How locked into that offering they are and what happens if they want to change? #Opensource #banking solutions offer the ability to both switch vendors and also customise to their requirements realitively easily - I'm not sure how many use solutions based on #mifos or #fineract - I guess they are still fairly new.
I'm not donating shit to anyone who is going to give that money to the people trying to harm or kill me, my friends, and my family. Grow a fucking spine. This isn't a movement if all we're doing is begging the US government to keep our tax status every few years the banks try to get them to take it away.
Being forced to listen to a lobbyist at work about how much they care about communities, how important Credit Unions are to communities, but nothing about taking a stand and actually supporting our community by fighting back attacks on our most vulnerable community members.
CUs are better than banks, but let's be real, they still operate within the realm of capitalist economics and are structured and operate in the exact same way as private corporations.
All the more reason to leave big banks behind and participate in a #CreditUnion.

It has been about a year since we have moved from a #Bank to a #CreditUnion, and it has been great! #ZeroFeeBanking is awesome, we have saved at least $120 plus we have earned that is #MemberRewards
Wish we had done this move 10-years ago. But, hey, in 10 years we will save $1,200 in fees and should have about $1,200 in rewards so, basically we will be up $2,400. Plus that is not including the slightly better rates

After (checks notes) 112 business days, I've finally managed to convince a credit union that a payment made to an incorrect account was caused by a defect in their online banking system and not by user error. I only had to reproduce the problem for them over the phone and in person (checks notes again) 13 times.
Even though it's a credit union, kinda don't like working for them for free.

@OverlookInfraTech 's #CreditUnion merged with another local credit union, so they updated their terms. One of the new terms is that they reserve the right to terminate our membership if we are assholes.
This is a good policy. More companies should use it.
I think I've had it with SMS and email based #2fa #mfa. I'm considering leaving my bank for a few reasons but one thing that really grinds my gears is the fact that they STILL don't support #totp 2FA.
I started looking around at options (I'd prefer a #creditunion but I'll take what I can get) but that type of 2FA seems rare for financial institutions.
