Bonus #ArtAdventCalendar & #invertefest &#crustmas print made for #InsertAnInvert2024 🦀 Time after time shrimp like crustaceans have evolved crablike forms (through a process called carcinization) and do a good job of pretending to be crabs, but this odd looking fellow is the real deal, a true crab. My red frog crab (Ranina ranina), also known as a spanner crab or Huỳnh Đế crab, is … 🧵

For the final day of #Crustmas it is now #Crustmakkah! It's been a wonderful 25 days over which ~200 people have shared something! 🦀🦑 ketrinadrawsalot.tumblr.com/post/7362056... (sorry too lazy to photoshop this myself)

Drawing by Ketrina draws a lot. It is a stylized crab seen from the front, with a menorah on its head with the middle candle and one other candle lit. The crab also has a kippah, gelt, and dreidel attached to it, and is holding an unlit candle.

Here are the marine sister group of insects, in #Crustmas action! Ignore the part 0:48-0:54 or so, that fossil is probably not a remipede (as said below, it's my opinion that we haven't found any yet) 🧪🦑

As seen today, insects evolved from within crustaceans. So this is a #Crustmas video
