I've been using Element for a while now, with an account that I made on Matrix.org.

When I got my new phone, it didn't accept the saved password for my account. I tried to retrieve it, by requesting a password reset email. I tried several times but never got that email. And yeah, I checked spam, and I'm sure I used the right email for the recovery attempt.

I made a new account, so I could at least chat in my group on my phone. But, it keeps asking me to verify my account. I have this key that it gave me. I tried to use that, but it wasn't accepted... 😔
I tried the "don't have other devices or the key", and it let's me create a passphrase. I enter that twice, it matches, and then I want to proceed, and I get an error code.

I keep getting notifications that I need to verify my new account. But... I'm a total n00b and I don't know how...

I'll try to install Element on my PC and try to login from there, to see if that can help...

I have some screenshots that I could share, if anyone would be willing and able to help me get this account verified.

I emailed matrix about the password recovery of my first account. I got an automated confirmation, but no reply since that... 😔

Sorry, I know this sounds rude, but I'm very low on spoons, and would like to focus on what I am trying to explore.

I've been using Spotify for many years. Autistic me enjoys it, as it usually works as it should, and it has the music that I want.

But, I know Spotify has its flaws. And, I have a family account, so it's not just me, it's some other folks involved too.

I've been looking for alternatives. I wanna move away from the big names like Apple, Amazon, and YouTube. So... I found some very positive things about Tidal. And, it looks like they have a family plan as well. They seem to offer a service that could transfer my playlists as well, as I have many, and I would not want to make them all from scratch again.

There is a 30 day free trial for new folks on Tidal. And I would like to try it out... But, seeing things are a bit crazy here these days, and I'm low on spoons... I don't want to make a lot of effort and then be disappointed.

So, are there folks here that went from Spotify to Tidal?
If so, can you share your experiences?
Maybe you've switched from another provider to Tidal?
Please do share if Tidal is offering you what you expected...
And, can someone maybe tell mea bit more about their family plan? The info on the page is very limited, and I don't want to create an account just yet. First, I'd like to know a bit more about the service.

Fankoos 🫶🏻 to all that boosted and replied to my #DareToAsk message about the treadmill. I managed to get it "away" from the side and it got closer to the middle. Yay! But I had a splitting headache yesterday, stress for all that I had to do... Getting ready for surgery, and getting an estimate for costs for getting the treadmill fixed... It didn't do me any good. But, getting the mill to shift back a bit after finding the helpful video, that did help me feel a lot better. 😊

I didn't do too much yesterday, as I just felt bläh a lot. My body was tired and my brain was busy. 😔 OK, I did do some chores but it didn't feel like I was doing enough. If that makes sense 🤔... I emptied the dishwasher, I folded and put away the laundry, I got the recycling to the shed...

Today I have physio, which is very welcome! And I want to visit a tire store in Cuijk, to make an appointment to get Skoosh her new all-season shoes. The summer ones she has are OK enough, but I want her to have all season ones. Also due to the rules in Germany, and as she goes there every now and then. 😊

And I'll need to visit Lidl on the way back home as well... Owww I also really need to hoover... Busy day, I guess... 😇

Let's see if I can get some exercises done now. 💪🏼

This may be a long shot... But maybe someone on the Fedi knows...

I have a treadmill. The tread needed adjusting. I checked the booklet. I checked the video. I did as was told. And... I messed up somehow... :parrot_sad:

If I want someone to repair it for me, they want €150. I don't have that money! Not even a small part of it. All my money goes to Arwen these days...

Is there anyone on Fedi that has experience with treadmills? That can easily talk me though this, in plain and simple words, so that I could maybe fix this myself (with their help)...

I am not technical. And this made me very insecure. But I want to fix this without needing to sell a kidney to be able to afford the costs...

If anyone would be able to talk me through it.... I can give more details on make and model then...

I am not handy with creating things. I may be able to learn, but that would take me many spoons and time. And, at the moment, I don't have much of either...

I've been using the :v_bi: Bi verified icon since I joined here. But... I've been exploring genders and my feelings and emotions...

And, I feel very attracted (if that's the right word) to being Autienby. I tried to make an unofficial silly flag for it. But... I'd love it if that flag could be made into a "verified" logo icon, that I could beg my admin to upload so I could use that...

I have *no idea* how hard or easy it will be to crop the flag center into a verified icon and to add the little checkmark ✔️. I have no idea if anyone would be willing and able to fix that for me. But... I would be super grateful if anyone would be willing to make this into a verified emoji that I could share with the beige admin. :bb:

I don't think *loads* of people will use the icon/emoji if it gets made... But, I know I'll use it for all my accounts...

Question about saving a website for "offline browsing".

I am a big n00b, just assume that I have no idea what I'm doing, and that would be a good place to start! 😂

I have been writing on a WordPress blog since December 2019. There have been many posts shared since.

Is there a way that I can download the blog, with the images and videos (they are mostly hosted on other services and embedded in the posts), and make it available for offline browsing?

I know it may become a big folder, if there is a way to include the pics and vids.

I have heard that there are something like levels of links to be downloaded? Like when I include a link to a vid or image or website, that those levels can sometimes be included as well into the download?

I've never done this. But when people were talking about downloading Wikipedia, I was wondering if that could be done on a WordPress website as well... 🤔

I'm using an older laptop, running Linux Kubuntu. I am not great at using Linux, barely know the basics (haven't been using it for very long).

What would be the easiest way, and hopefully the best way, to download the website to my harddrive? So I can browse it offline as well? If that's possible...

As the fediverse seems to become more popular, more and more frequently I see great posts on my timeline that include an image without ALT text. So sad!

Disregarding the sadness, when I think the message deserves spreading, I usually first add a response with the ALT text, and then boost the original post (with the image without ALT text).

Is that OK? Are you experiencing this too? How do you handle it? WDYT?

Question to Friendica folks:

I've recently followed Altbot@fuzzies.wtf, as I sometimes struggle with writing my own alts, and I can use the help then.

But the way Friendica works, I get so see *many* posts in my time line now, of folks I don't follow and I'm not interested in, because they used alt bot for their post.

I guess I can't ignore the account, because then I guess I would not see the alt text for my posts, should I need it...

Is there a way to set it so, that I will see the alt bot replies to me, but I won't zee all the posts that it comments on? I've even ignored one user that I didn't even know, because they were spamming the time line with the same kind of message over and over, while adding the same image over and over.... It drove me nuts!

So if there is a way that I can restrict seeing all the comments by Alt bot, please do let me know! 🌹

I've read a few times now, that the first Pixelfed instance, the social one, may be ended after some time... As that's the one I've been on for over a year, and I've been sharing quite a bit...

Will I lose it all??

When you transfer to another Mastodon instance, you lose all the toots.

When it's time to find a new instance for Pixelfed, will there be a way to take l the snaps with me to the new account??

I have several collections. I have over 1.6k snaps online at the moment. I understand that it's a lot. Also to take on for a new instance, as I'll probably not be the only one to want to transfer all my snaps with me (if that's possible).

So.... Will it be possible? And is there any time frame known as to when this big migration will be expected to have to happen?

Sorry for all the questions. But I've spend a lot of time and effort on building my Pixelfed presence and I would hate to lose it all someday....
