Last Friday decided to walk from Emerald to Gembrook, about 14km. Was looking forward to getting something to eat from the Emerald Village Bakery, only to find it was closed, I must have picked the one day of the year that happens.
Anyhow, after that setback, I was off, through open fields then into the fern-gully before reaching emerald lake, weather was about 25C and humid, had 3 litres of water with me and some muesli bars. Stopped in Wrights Forest next to Puffing Billy rail line for a brew and rest at 6km, then pushed on through cockatoo which had some long bastard inclines. Saw a great black and white cow and had to wave at lots of people on Puffing Billy as it went steaming by, the sound of its whistle echoing through the hills is always a thrilling thing to hear, after arriving at Gembrook a cold drink was purchased at the servo and then caught the Public Transport bus back to Emerald. All in all a great walk.
