This is absolute nonsense: there is "static" information that #BigTech would already have like your full name, date of birth, home address, etc., but there is more volatile info that they cannot have already gotten and that should be protected, like your circles of friends and colleagues, the places you visit, your beliefs and interests, etc.

Dopo alcuni giorni di test con @murena /e/OS sul mio telefono "muletto" pixel4a ho deciso di usarlo giornalmente anche con SIM card prima di prendere decisione se flasharlo anche sul mio Pixel8a. Devo dire che tutte le app che uso incluse quelle di banking fungono al momento, e la app di privacy inclusa nel OS da una chiara visione di tutti i tracker delle app presenti, con opzione di bloccarli o abilitarli se fossero vitali per le app stesse. Questo il risultato di oggi.
#Degoogling update: I’ve installed #vivaldi with maxed out privacy setting on my devices with #startpage as my default search engine. Much improved experience. Vivaldi seems less resource intensive than #firefox and it seems to have completely killed all ads on #Youtube, which claims back some of my life (60 second ads on 3 minute videos is a joke, yes I’m aware YT is Google owned).

The bank I am customer of provides service of travel insurance.
I used this once.
But what I complaining about is that this service is NOT available at desktop website, only via the mobile app.
Such things gives me that especially negative feel and mood about smartphones and their widespread use.
And this kind of issues matters in context of de-googling.
And all my crime is to try to use laptop & brick phone instead of smartphone.
PS: And I did not touch topics like the simple fact that if you don't use GMAIL for your email, regardless of fancy or standard domain, you need to also solve problem like "what app to use at your android phone because you don't use gmail anymore". (I already got some suggestions here at Fediverse about that, thanks! But mention it because it is another problem that may arise during using "fancy" email address.
Working well so far on my Pixel 6a 🎉 !
@targetdrone I'm definitely on board for #degoogling - But that's something I don't have an option for at work, unfortunately.
And it's even more disturbing that they're going to take options away from paying customers just to boost someone's usage stats.

So here we are with those small but important things that make ditching Big Tech grating, especially if it's more of a practicality than an identity: Testing out the Docs part of my Nextcloud account with The Good Cloud & it works fine - except that the font choice, already limited to mostly dozens of versions of Noto, is down to just a handful of options that support Danish special characters... 🙄
Took quite a big step in #degoogling by switching to /e/os. Works like a charm so far. Way easier than quitting smoking
