@Lydie aaannndd.. we're back in business! I found an old NUC that wasn't in use, installed a fresh version of Linux, configured a new #deluge servier, and connected it to the store via NFS.
Now it's downloading a new one from #sciop and checking the integrity of some of the previous downloads. 2TB being hosted, 6 more to go before it's full.

backstory:
When I learned about #sciop in March, I resurrected an old 6TB array* I'd wiped and prepped for donation. I attached a spare RasPi3 to it, mounted via NFS and got to seeding. Fast forward to having ~2TB of active torrents, the #deluge server doesn't really respond, though i can SSH in just fine. I'm guessing the 1GB of memory isn't enough, but hadn't dealt with this before.
[*] A Buffalo terrastation that I didn't realize kept the OS on the drives, so by wiping them, I bricked it and had to find firmware in the Wayback Machine to get it going again, using a version meant for a different model, but eventually got it working! #ordeal.
The Synthstrom #Deluge has landed at Casa Nazgul!
This thing is *sleek* - even more portable than expected!
And it's *immediately* engrossing. Within minutes of firing it up I was dialing in some sequences and playing with the synth engines.
Latest community firmware installed, along with the 'Boards of Deluge' soundpack #1.
This is going to be a great buddy for the #Hydrasynth.

After making #ElectronicMusic, in some form, and playing in a band that has been centered around a #sequencer of some sort for over 25 years, I finally got my first "#groovebox" sequencer of my own, a #Synthstrom #Deluge. I've had a lot of different things that can sequence _or_ sample _or_ create synth patches but nothing that can do it all-in-one.

"Fleming Woods" - I had an hour to myself on a beautiful day, taking the synth machine into the woods for an attempt at music making. I heard the music around me, and decided to start by recording it. Then I created a new wavetable instrument and improvised some drifting harmonies to channel my being.
This is fully embodied Earth Music. It happened in a time and place. Many relatives are present. It is a meditation. Please enjoy.

The "Metalliche" patch from the upcoming Deluge Community Preset Contest Pack played with a Linnstrument. It really felt like playing a slide guitar or guzheng! The expressiveness of the Linn controls breathes life into the synthesized sound.

i made this last april, and listened to it today and it felt magical, like the powers of spring vibrating through the world.
please take 10 minutes and listen in a calm space if you have time. some passages feel dark and dissonant, but others are harmonies you won't often get from conventional equal tempered music

i enjoyed making this peaceful variation on a tune i don't have realized. maybe its not "worth' sharing but... its real music made in "real time" - i just had 20 minutes to sketch and play. maybe it will be a bit of birdsong in your day

- non drummy drum kit, sorta slap sounds
- tinkly ring mod pluck with delay
Voting for the Deluge "Chopin" 1.2 Community Firmware presets without secretly voting for their demo clips is a fucking _challenge_.

a weird wavetable patch - sort of a broken down push organ with metallic tines? provides a witchy dirge then...
FM brassy lead melody improvisation would be nicer with expressive controls but... it sounds lively with some envelopes giving a bit of breath to the sonic shape
