What a kickoff to Blindness Awareness Month! 🎉

Earlier this week, at The Times Center in NYC, the National Organization on Disability brought together innovators, influencers, performers, and business leaders to spotlight how accessible technology is shaping inclusion and innovation—and we were honored to be there.

From start to finish, "Technology and the Disability Experience" had the room buzzing with ideas, energy, and community. We made amazing connections with partners old and new, and we enjoyed the powerful performances by Lachi and Indi Robinson!

Huge thanks to NOD for an unforgettable evening and the best lead in to Blindness Awareness Month ever. Let’s keep the momentum going. 🎉

With that visibility has come a shift in how society understands it: anxiety is no longer brushed off as simple nerves but is now, in certain cases, recognized as a disability. The distinction between being “just stressed” and being “seriously limited” is harder than ever to ignore.

I have a client who, at 16, has figured out how to communicate by writing on a white board. He's brilliant, too. We need to prioritize figuring out how to give non-speakers a voice!

The government is banning credit and debit card surcharges -- and that's a win for accessibility.

For many disabled people, digital payments aren't a choice -- they're a necessity. Surcharges meant we were paying more just to access the same services.

This move makes things fairer, more inclusive, and more accessible for everyone.

Affordability is an access issue.👏

Here are some photos and video from Tuesday’s Disability Pride Flag raising in Brimbank; a powerful and history making moment. For the first time ever in Victoria, the Disability Pride Flag was raised, marking a big step forward in visibility, recognition, and celebration of our community.

Huge thanks to Mayor Thuy Dang and Councillors Daniel Kruk, Joh Bauch, Virginia Tachos, Duyen Anh Pham, and Kim Thien Truong for showing up and and standing with us in solidarity.

Much appreciation to DRC Advocacy, Accessible Victorian Greens, Brimbank City Council, and Larissa MacFarlane for organising and sponsoring this historical event.
