En diciembre de 2023 publiqué unas notas sobre el "fenómeno" que fue la película Saltburn. (¿Alguien la recuerda? ¿Ven lo que les digo todo el rato de lo rápido que pasa el tiempo?, ¿de lo excepcional que resulta que una obra cultural perdure?) El tono que usé era sostenido. Entretenida pero ni mucho menos para tanto revuelo. Mi conclusión, vista la resurrección en listas del tema Murder On The Dancefloor, era que la intención oculta del filme era auspiciarlo. Y ese clip. EL CLIP.

Lista, Sophie Ellis-Bextor se puso a trabajar. No exactamente para aprovechar la estela de favores que le dejó el largo, pero sí para gozar de sus restos. Trabajar sin desespero. Y ya tenemos tres canciones de su inminente álbum, su retorno al baile (el disco Hana es de 2023 pero fue lento) tras aquel ensayo que fue Crying At The Discoteque y luego Hypnotized, que a la postre sirve de puente entre eras.

Tres tristes tracks en un trigal. Bueno, ni trigal ni tristes. O se baila o se baila. En palabras de Gaga: Dance or die.

Si me ponen tan fácil alegrarme no puedo negarme.

En octubre vino Freedom of the Night, en cuyo video era una madre de ética cuestionable en chándal y lunares. Muy Murder. La más normal de las tres. Una pista disco acertada cuyo máximo destacable es el solo de guitarra eléctrica hacia el final.

Estrenó abril compartiendo Relentless Love, de sonoridad añeja para bien. Aquí el disco empapa la disco con calidades propias de la infalible Jessie Ware. Si no fuese por la ausencia de falsetes pronunciados, la programación bombástica en el fondo del puente final y la calidad del audio estaríamos en los mejores setentas.

Y ahora Vertigo y su comienzo abrupto, que parece otra colaboración con Freemasons. Locuela como el enamoramiento al que alude alternando fraseos rápidos y normales en el estribillo. Yo digo sí.
