"...Discord says they will not be paying threat actors who claim to have stolen the data of 5.5 million unique users from the company's Zendesk support system instance, including government IDs and partial payment information for some people.
The company is also pushing back on claims that 2.1 million photos of government IDs were disclosed in the breach, stating that approximately 70,000 users had their government ID photos exposed...."

Age verification laws are insanely stupid for many reasons, but this is one of the biggest ones. #Discord shouldn't even have this information but... now they do because of short sighted age verification laws written by fossils who think the internet is a series of tubes.
Our data is already all over the place. The less places it is the less chance of this happening. But idiotic #tech #policy written by morons who think that the government should be in the business of policing what kids access on the internet has created a situation where a bunch of companies are now going to have to hang on to sensitive personal information like this.
