The Reasons Why I Am A Discordian.
Eris and her works are everywhere.
Everywhere there are humans there is disagreement, strife, greed, avarice, corruption, violence, murder, war, genocide and much, much more. All humans constantly oppose one other. Not only that all humans are pitted against all life on the planet.
Do you see overwhelming evidence of love, peace, empathy and care in the lives of every single person in the world? There are many gods and goddesses who attempt to promote these qualities in humanity after all.
Eris ensures the failure of all the other gods and goddess who attempt to promote peace and love by sowing discord in the minds of the other gods and goddesses. The other pathetically weak gods and goddesses turn their attentions away from humanity to squabble and fight amongst themselves.
All the other gods and goddesses and their works are dogshit compared to Eris and her mighty works. Eris ensures that no human, god or goddess will ever fully cooperate with any other being, mortal or immortal. What power more mighty could there be than hers?
Eris uses many methods to achieve her aims. God and goddesses are notoriously susceptible to vanity. Humans are notoriously susceptible to greed. Both are notoriously susceptible to power. Eris does not require a great deal for her work to succeed. Golden apples are known to work well for instance. Other far more mundane tools and methods are equally as effective and often better than any apple, golden or otherwise. These alternatives are often easier for Eris to obtain and use. Golden apples don't grow on trees after all.
Eris' work is easiest and most evident when individuals attempt to come together. in a group. People in a group believe that all the other members of the group share common goals and beliefs. They believe that they will cooperate with one another to attain their common goals. All of this is antithetical to Eris and her goal of disrupting harmony and cooperation throughout the world.
Eris destroys cooperation within a group by instantly placing the group is in opposition to every other individual and group. Eris' first action is more than enough to eliminate most groups.
Eris also places discord into each mind of the group's individual members.
This ensures that the members of any group will oppose each another. Disagreement, dissent, hierarchy, favouritism, corruption, internal politics and more develop in the group. Factions emerge, grow and splinter away. Members are punished and purged. Revolutions occur. Eventually the group disintegrates into chaos. Eris made all of this inevitable when she places discord into the minds of the group's members.
Eris' work is made far easier when the group has more than five (5) members. Eris ensures there will always be discord when a any group contains more than five (5) members. The Law of Fives is one of Eris' greatest achievements and it is absolute and inviolable.
I require no additional reasons to explain why I am a Discordian.
To pay my respects to Eris and her enduring power and influence over all of humanity I humbly refrain from eating hot dog buns.
