ok, apparently my idea of relaxing for a day is giving PCB etching another try and then taking it way too far by also trying to give it a nice solder mask and plotted silk screen.

anyways, here is a USB-C power supply for my old soviet short wave receiver

Photo of a small home made single sides PCB sitting on 4 standoffs. It's got a long cable attached using some screw lugs which terminates in a 3D printed plugA closeup of the PCB, showing the screw lugs which attach the cable, the fuse holder, LED with resistor, capacitor and voltage regulator with a heat sink.Another view of the PCB, showing the capacitors on the input side and a small USB-C breakout board soldered and screwed to the PCB. It also gives a good view of the "silkscreen" which has been plotted on using a pen plotter.A view of the underside of the PCB, showing the traces, a large ground plane and a really cool looking purple solder mask.

I have set up the Gerber editor to create a default film suited to the EPSON L3110 Ink-Tank printer.

The Gerber Editor will only export PostScript to A-4 size (this is a common limitation) and this format is necessary to avoid resolution loss and keep everything in vector format all the way to the printer.

Anything bigger than this 1/2 of an A4 size (which is this way due to the limitations of the CNC bed where it will be drilled) will need to be sent to JLCPCB

Post Etch Evaluation

As always, timing is critical. I was a bit hasty with this one, it's a bit under-etched in places (but the fumes of the acid were getting to me badly so I decided to terminate it prematurely)

I am very happy with this:
