@robin.berjon.com There have been some obvious successes under the #DMA, such as the choice screens for browsers and search engines (which were provided in Belgium too - I got them), the adjustment to ranking (search for a browser on Google.com), or the fact that you can now book hotels cheaper outside Booking.com. But there clearly is much much much more to be done.

Ads coming to WhatsApp is making me much more frustrated than I already was. I haven’t been updating the app since the introduction of Meta AI, but now WhatsApp is demanding that I update within 15 days or I won’t be able to use the app anymore.
So, the time has come: I have two weeks to backup and quit WhatsApp for good.
Since I’m here: could I also ask for your advice for local-only, not cloud, software that can backup ALL my #WhatsApp chats and store them locally in a browsable format/database? I found out about WhatsApp-Chat-Chat-Exporter but I’d like to learn more before testing it out.

Aktywności na żywo w macOS 26. Nowa funkcja zadziała nawet ze starszym iOS, ale jest jeden zasadniczy problem
Firma Apple ogłosiła, że wraz z jesienną premierą systemu macOS Tahoe 26 na komputery Mac trafi funkcja Aktywności na żywo (Live Activities). Co istotne, do jej działania nie będzie wymagane posiadanie najnowszej wersji systemu na iPhonie – wystarczy iOS 18.
Informacja ta, pochodząca z sesji „What’s new in widgets” na konferencji WWDC25, jest dobrą wiadomością dla użytkowników, którzy planują zaktualizować swój komputer Mac, ale z różnych powodów nie będą mogli lub nie będą chcieli instalować iOS 26 na swoim telefonie.
Jak to będzie działać? Aktywności na żywo ze sparowanego iPhone’a będą automatycznie pojawiać się na pasku menu komputera Mac. Na pasku menu wyświetlana będzie zredukowana wersja Aktywności na żywo, podobnie jak ma to miejsce w Dynamic Island na iPhonie. Po kliknięciu na nią, użytkownik zobaczy rozszerzony widok, identyczny z tym, który jest prezentowany na ekranie blokady iPhone’a.
Kolejne kliknięcie w rozszerzony widok uruchomi powiązaną aplikację za pomocą funkcji Klonowania iPhone’a (iPhone Mirroring), co pozwoli na natychmiastowy dostęp do pełnej aplikacji działającej na telefonie, bez odrywania rąk od komputera.
Co ważne, funkcja ta będzie działać automatycznie dla każdej aplikacji, która już obsługuje Aktywności na żywo. Oznacza to, że deweloperzy nie muszą wprowadzać żadnych zmian w kodzie swoich programów, a użytkownicy nie będą musieli czekać na dodatkowe aktualizacje. Zapewnione będzie również wsparcie dla interakcji i tzw. głębokich linków (deep links).
Wszystko fajnie, ale jest jeden zasadniczy problem. W UE (zatem i w Polsce) nie tylko nie zadziałają Aktywności na żywo, ale w ogóle nie działa mirroring iPhone’a, co wynika z potencjalnej niezgodności usługi Apple z unijnym DMA. Bardzo wątpliwe, by w tej kwestii cokolwiek uległo zmianie, gdyż zgodnie z DMA Apple musiałoby otworzyć mirroring również na innych, zewnętrznych dostawców i firmy.
