During the first 10 days in March '25, we were quite active.
I, Fiona, went to a shamanic sound healing course and built my own beautiful drum 🥰
Marc fixed the damaged bike boxes — oh, I have to tell you a story about these bike boxes: So because our boxes were damaged from all the traveling since Chile, we went in Lima to a bike shop to ask for bike boxes they would normally throw away. They had boxes to give away, but they wanted $40 and our passport number to register the sale. What??? We said NO, thanks! and ended up fixing the old boxes with cardboard, we got for free, and lots of tape—
And Marc finally found someone who could fix the problem with the Chris King hub on his bicycle, he had since almost one year.
We both planned for our next big project/adventure/chapter of life and enjoyed the city life... 😊

I have a new album out today, the sophomore "effort" from RRSATZ. This band is made up mostly of friends from #NewMexico who previously played in a #garagerock band called the Scrams ('09-'12). Now we live in #ChicoCA, #Brooklyn, #HoiAn, with one still in #Albuquerque

We recorded my #drum parts, most guitar, bass, and vocals in September. Then added and subtracted from that over the last couple of months.

Today in Labor History January 22, 1969: African American workers at the Eldon Chrysler plant in Detroit marched on the autoworkers' union with a list of grievances during the ELRUM strike. A few days later, on January 27, they began a wildcat strike at the Eldon plant, which was highly segregated. At the time, 65% of Eldon employees were black. ELRUM, or the Eldon Revolutionary Union Movement, was part of the League of Revolutionary Black Workers (LRBW). Both groups emerged from DRUM (the Dodge Revolutionary Movement), which formed in May, 1968, in response to the racism and disregard by the United Autoworkers toward black workers. DRUM launched a wildcat strike on July 8, 1968. LRBW were mostly communists. They opposed capitalist exploitation, union complacency, imperialism, state violence, and the collusion of the AFL-CIO with the FBI and CIA.

Traveling over Kyōto's Eastern mountains into Shiga Prefecture, I took a hike to Hiyoshi Taisha (日吉大社) on the east side of the legendary Mt. Hiei. Besides the beautiful old buildings and a unique type of torii gate, rivers run through the shrine, so I replaced my PET bottle water with the sacred water from Mt. Hiei. This shrine was a major historical site of Buddhist-Shintō syncretism or fusion (神仏習合、本地垂迹説、神体山信仰など) and is the center of the mysterious Sannō (山王) or mountain king worship. Notice a Shintō shrine building near the top of Mt. Hiei. It's by (and devoted to) a huge rock outcropping (金大巌). It's part of the mystery, so I hiked up there once. The only sign of former glory was a sign saying this way to the Temple of Shintō-Buddhist syncretism or fusion (神宮寺), where around a thousand years ago each main Buddhist divinity was identified with a Shintō one. To the right is actually a Buddhist temple, standing today in front of the entrance to the shrine, as if to wink and say we never followed the government separation of the two religions in the Meiji period.
