With the new Dr Who series I've decided I need to catch up... From the beginning... Through every episode*
Still firmly in the Hartnell era but already found several things:
-This is going to take a long time to catch up to Ncuti!
-A subtle connection between "the monk" and "the master" made in the modern era.
-The doctor started out as a cross between a petulant teenager, columbo and a complete arse.
-British actors from the 60s should NEVER EVER EVER attempt American accents 😬
Caught up with this week's Doctor Who episode, and I... have thoughts. Lots of things I liked, but not my favourite of the season. It was good to see Ruby and her family again, and also to see how UNIT operates when the Doctor isn't there, setting up the spinoff nicely. Really looking forward to seeing more of those characters.
On the other hand, parts of the plot felt weak. Things happened way too easily, and escalated and deescalated pretty fast too. I thought the themes it tackled with how certain social media personas and alt-right grifters are responsible for the spread of disinformation were 100% spot on, but the way everything played out felt a bit sloppy.
Tl;dr, I liked what the episode had to say, but found the execution a bit lacklustre. At the same time I'm very here for Ncuti's speech at the end of the episode and for Kate Stewart's zero-nonsense, entering a grey area, badass approach to handling things.

I know this is a minority report, but I thought half of last season's episodes of #DrWho were absolute all-timers, while I was a bit indifferent to the other half. I'd been fairly indifferent to this season until today, but today's episode is an absolute corker. Maybe not quite a classic, but a great episode nonetheless.
Watching the latest episode of #DrWho, and it really reminds me of 10’s “Love and Monsters”.
Doctor and Companion light, with a focus on an individual/ group that is / are trying to track down the Doctor.

Classic Troughton #DrWho story Fury From the Deep's monster is (sea) weed which announces its presence with a 'heartbeat' that sounds a bit like a rave happening somewhere nearby, and it also produces large amounts of foam. Victoria's screaming turns out to be useful.
I finished watching Dr. Who: The Pyramids of Mars. Ancient Egyptian themed pulp fiction is my love language; there was never any chance I wasn't going to love this one. My peculiarities aside this is one of the best so far.
So far, my rankings for Tom Baker are:

I tend to watch a single episode of a tv show as I eat my tea.
I rarely binge things because it seems like pissing something away that could be savoured over weeks.
I have gratuitously mixed metaphors there with unpleasant results.
At the moment I'm alternating between 70s Pertwee #DrWho and Alan Tudyk's sitcom Resident Alien.
Both shows feature an alien Doctor who is stuck on Earth and the other thing they have in common is that apart from that they are completely different.
Und weil ich so schön im Flow war & es das echt lange nicht mehr gab, hab ich Mafaldine Carbonara gebastelt & einen schönen Salat dazu.
Dazu gibt's endlich wieder #drwho

Franchises can reach saturation point, and need time to be left to lie for a while.
But of course Capitalism doesn't care about that, so like the MCU, it'll carry on longer after anybody could really care.

Bon, j'ai cru que j'avais rêvé, mais il semblerait que non, je ne suis pas la seule à le remarquer (cf reddit), l'un des thème de Mass Effect 2 est très similaire à l'un des thèmes de Dr Who. C'est assez impressionnant.
