#DuckDuckFedi, is there a safe way to fool an old 12V transformer into providing energy to a bunch of LED lights?
The light strip in my kitchen is connected to a transformer that's designed for the load of incandescent lamps and refuses to turn on with the lower consumption of only LED lamps. Can I somehow simulate higher power consumption by inserting a resistor or something without risking burning my apartment down? Buying a new transformer is currently not viable.
Wanna try resuming my search for web domain registrars and hosting. I wanted to do one of the searches, where I limit the search to hosting/registrar companies located outside of the Eyes (5/9/14) .
While my use case is not activism, I wonder if there is a web hosting company that activists use, in one of these Non-Eye countries, to avoid such fascist authorities from being able to access your data/use a warrant against that host/registrar.
I see a couple Iceland based providers, and maybe a few Swiss based providers. Any one have some suggestions? My goal is to get everything I have out of US providers within a year or two.
Would anyone have a suggestion of such services?
Also, between jurusdiction of the registrar's host country vs the website host company, which jurisdiction is priority (re: fascists issueing a warrant)

Derzeit habe ich ein Nokia 2720, das hat aber den unglaublichen Nachteil das man trotz Tastensperre die Lautstärke mit der äußeren Wippe ausdrehen kann. Außerdem hatte es eine unvorteilhafte Begegnung mit Öl, seitdem ist das Display kaum lesbar.
Ich brauch wirklich nicht viel, nur dass das Ding klingelt und am besten noch die Nachbarn der nächsten drei Häuser mit weckt.

I like using parchment paper on the surface of my workbenches as it’s great for making quick notes/illustrations/tracing etc., and being parchment paper has the added benefit of mostly not letting glue stick to it.
But does anyone know where I can get rolls of parchment paper in Canada that’s 24 inches wide (like the big rolls of Kraft Paper) so I don’t have to use two 12 inches pieces on the workbench?

Can anyone recommend a good domain registrar? I want something that isnt hosted in a privacy-adverse country like the US. I was originally looking at Swiss based providers, on the idea that their goverment might be more privacy oriented...maybe not so quick to hand over info.

Where could I find docs for historical versions of #OpenSSL? I'm trying to set up a CA for #RetroComputing machines with OpenSSL 0.9.6b, but the little bit of documentation that came with it isn't telling me much. jemensch hatte hier in den letzten Tagen ein Foto aus einem Labor eines ÖPNV-Unternehmens gepostet von einem Tag der offenen Tür. Ich meine es war aus Leipzig. Kann mich jedenfalls daran erinnern, init-Bordrechner-Oberflächen gesehen zu haben.
