At a con. I had been going for a Matrix look, but it was too hot to keep the jacket on. Luckily I had a tanktop on (and, not to brag, the bulk to fill it). I caught myself in a mirror and realised I had accidentally cosplayed Duke Nukem.

Playing "Duke Nukem 1" (1991) for the first time makes me thankful for things like autosave and level select. In this game, you can ONLY save in between levels, and you HAVE to manually save. I can't tell you how many times I forget to save and have been forced to replay levels.

OK this is weird.
After a *lot* of digging, I found out that yeah, I *do* actually have #DukeNukem 3D on PC, in my #GOG library. Because I remember getting it for free for PC at some point, and yep, it was in GOG after all, as I expected.
Why did it take a long time to find? It's *no longer available for purchase*. *Also* noted that there's people *begging* to get the original Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem II MS-DOS sidescrollers on GOG, but apparently Gearbox cut a deal with some other service which I've never heard of and already forgot the name of.
*sigh* some fucking Randy Pitchford shenanigans AGAIN

Are used to love computers back in the 90s. Most of my friends and I were into some form of programming, be it #Basic or #Pascal.
Computers were fun in those days. I used to be a structural engineer and I would look forward to Monday mornings after a weekend of beavering away at some program that helped you to design retaining walls or something or other.
My friends would be truly amazed and bring out their amazing programs for the design of reinforced concrete beams etc. Little did we know that about 1000 other engineers and techno people all over the world had spent their weekends coming up with the same thing.!
Games were fun too: #SpaceInvaders, or my favourite was #Snipes, developed by some engineers at Cisco I think although I could be wrong. #DukeNukem , #Lemmings and Microsoft #FlightSimulator used to be fun too. But after that it all start to fall in a bit of a heap.
Oh, I didn’t mention #Myst. That was great too and sadly myst!
