Shocking news: I got sidetracked.

I promise I was about to start painting the ork vehicles, but I accidentally fell onto my airbrush which then spontaneously filled itself with paint and somehow sprayed all the paint over these models. This is why the priming job is so bad, and not because I diluted it too much and failed to notice because of bad lighting. :harold:

I (again) hid a painted-on fold on the dress that isn't in the sculpt! Can you spot it? The WIP photo might help.

I wanted her to have darker skin, so there isn't quite enough contrast where it's touching the #wyrm. I also wasn't intentionally doing gold NMM on the trim. It just somehow...clicked for me while trying to make the yellow look sharp.

A fairly quick job testing out purple basecoat for the skin. The flesh tone on top of it at first didn't stick very well so I had to rub it off and try again (hence the somewhat streaky look).

The last pic is from after I found on a different sprue the optional bits of hide for that shoulder, to hide a bad-fitting spot. (I think I did an okay job filling the gap with putty though.)

Finished painting this a while ago but holding up the pictures was getting a base big enough for it. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to have its one leg standing on a 50mm base (as included in the box) when it occupies twice that width on a grid. For some extra stability there's a stack of washers inside the leg too.

Painted miniature of an animated stone construct, hulking stompily on its 2...legs? (they come out where the arms would be on the torso). It has a runed arch over its head and pillars coming out of its legs and back with rune engravings, connected to chains which are wrapped around its legs. It is mossy and also has a tree stump and vines on it. Both the carved runes and the magical symbols on its body have a glowing effect.

Whether it's a #wereboar or old-school pig-headed #orc, I think we can all agree that, given the scale, it's an absolute unit.

It walks on 2 hoofed feet and its fingernails are also hoof-shaped. One hand has metal claws attached to the fingers, and the other hand raises a double-ended dagger which the beast is about to jump on and stab you with. There's a parched skeleton and some bones on the base, but they're really dwarfed by the size of this thing.

The glowing eyes and symbols were easier than I thought (I'm sure it's more complicated once you have the glow cast shadows on other things).

For a change, I used matte varnish over this (except the glossy water). It makes for better pictures but I'm so used to finished models having a bit of shine that the matte gives an unfinished look to me IRL.

Speedpaints only except for final highlights. I used the alternate head as a bit of extra support for the one leg but the thing is still quite delicate on those chicken legs. (I don't know how people put up with this on WH AOS figures.)
