Along the coast from us for #MeerMittwoch, this is the natural, limestone arch of Durdle Door in Lulworth Cove, Dorset. This was from a visit to our neighbouring county in 2013.

It's an overcast day with sheets of grey cloud overlapping all the way to the distant horizon that we can see from our vantage point on top of cliffs over the shoreline. To the right the cliffs continue around and out to sea, topped with grass and fronted by sheer faces of white chalk. Where we're standing it looks a little less like a straight drop in front of us with some of the grassy headland dipping down to where we can see a crescent shape of damp-looking sand curling around in front of the cliffs. The beach's border with the sea is a thick band of foam from the breaking waves but the sea looks relatively calm and grey-green from this distance and height. Emerging from land from the left of the view is a rocky promontory with a natural arch in it. It appears like a giant, rusted, old bottle opener jutting into the water.

Said to the wife that I wanted to swim through #durdleDoor and she said it's not allowed. If I wanted to, she said, it would only be allowed if I went with escorts. I said, wow , this place is fantastic! She didn't laugh.

This is what #DurdleDoor looks like when #TearsForFears aren't there selfishly spoiling the view for everyone.
