🚨 New selected research highlight 💡

Breakthrough in Laser Technology: Researchers at the @mpi_grav and @unihannover have developed a novel method to reduce shot noise in lasers, enabling more precise measurements in low-power experiments.

This innovation, utilizing squeezed vacuum states, stabilizes laser power fluctuations by up to 3.7 times below the previous limit, opening up new possibilities for life sciences and gravitational-wave detection.

🏆 Poster Prize at the Einstein Telescope Annual Meeting 🏆

Congratulations to our colleague Graziano Pascale, a PhD student in the “Lasers and Squeezed Light” group at @mpi_grav in Hannover and at @unihannover.

Last week, Graziano won one of the poster prizes at the Einstein Telescope Annual Meeting in Warsaw.

He presented his research on a new method for stabilizing the power of laser beams to meet the stringent requirements of the next generation of ground-based detectors, such as the Einstein Telescope or Cosmic Explorer.

New profile picture: The Einstein Telescope is a planned European third-generation gravitational-wave detector. It will be about 10 times more sensitive than today's instruments.

The @mpi_grav has long played a leading role in gravitational-wave research and is a co-initiator of the Einstein Telescope.

Er zijn grote stappen gezet om de #EinsteinTelescope in het grensgebied van België, Nederland en Duitsland te kunnen bouwen. Dat bleek tijdens de vierde ministeriële top over dit project. De Vlaamse regering reserveert alvast 200 miljoen voor het project. Daarnaast ondersteunen België en Nederland de stappen die in Duitsland worden gezet om ook daar definitief geld voor de bouw van de Einstein Telescope te reserveren. grenspostdusseldorf.nl/actueel
