Pretty spectrum and waterfall display, 9.140MHz, AM. My filter bandwidth isn't wide enough to pass the whole broadcast.
(It is China Radio International - no, no propaganda radio programmes, just interesting instrumental music).

The #Elecraft PX3 (launched in 2014) can act as a USB host and be connected either to a mass storage device or a keyboard from which you can send text or directly program 50 macros. I programmed the function keys to set the radio RF output to 0.1, 1, 5 and 10W with one press.
A serial keypad with programmable keys sending commands to the KX3/2 would be quite neat, like the SOTACAT, but not needing an app.
If only I had an antenna to test it.
The rubber grommets are for my #Elecraft #KX3 radio. The radio is externally powered by a barrel jack. The jack has come loose from the circuit board again, from twisting and tugging coming from the power cable.
I would like to install a cable with strain-relief, running through a rubber grommet in the KX3's side panel, coming out to a set of Anderson Powerpole connectors.
Most of my other stuff has those connectors on them already. Solar panel, SLA battery, charge controller.
After 32 years as a ham I finally completed my first #pota activation!
Thanks for everyone who hunted me at Kielder Water (GB-1285).
This one was SSB but I hope to add a CW one in the future.
Gear was my trusty #elecraft #kx2 with wire antenna suspended on a SOTABeams tactical mast. Ran off battery and happily chucked out 10w.
40m didn’t give me any contacts (the noise floor was surprisingly high - possibly LED lighting in the cabins?). 20m was great though.
Some time ago, #Elecraft stopped making the 100W #amplifier module for their #K2 kit radio. However, all is not lost, as the #KXPA100 solid-state switching amplifier designed for their KX3 radio can work great with the K2, after a small mod to the K2. I describe this mod in the blog article linked below. As a result, I can send #CW on my K2 at 100W with silent switching and full QSK. The KXPA100 is equipped with a 100W ATU, giving full flexibility regarding the antenna.

Front panel board is done. Still not sure about the LCD - it appears to be the highest component on the board, which means the front panel will be pressing against it. Does anybody know if this is expected?

A fun saturday morning build. The K6ARK KH1 loading coil. Got a QSO with WU7H on 40m (no counterpoise). We were both very weak. Got some RBN hits on the other bands. #3dPrinting #HamRadio #DIY #Elecraft #KH1
Three easier Summits on the Air hills in South Wales ticked off today including a new one, Allt yr Esgair. New “Slim G” 2m antenna and HT combo didn’t live up to expectations but will persevere.. Good conditions on 20m/17m tho.

@ve3qbz No, I am not the author of that post.

One of the tiny (3 x 3.5mm) micro switches failed on my #Elecraft #KH1 morse key. After a bit of searching I found they are readily available (DigiKey etc) C&K "detect switches" types HDS001L (left side) and HDS001R (right side). Replacement was fairly straightforward but I had to use a PCB microscope and my smallest bit for the soldering! Rig is back up and running again, ready for the next #POTA activation.
Elecraft asked if I could rewrite this article to be included in their monthly newsletter. Of course I was happy to do so, I love my KH1.
The picture attached is a screenshot of my article in their email newsletter.
@W1CDN I got started early and took Friday off to head to the Brecon Beacons in Wales for a couple of SOTAs. Pen y Fan and Fan Fawr. Was hoping based on the forecast for an inversion and to end up above the clouds in sunshine. But it’s Wales, so I was damp in the clouds with a cold wind! Used my #Elecraft #KH1 for both, hasn’t seen much action so far due to 10M challenge last year (which it doesn’t have). But it’s going to see a lot of use this year!
