Poster of the EM course in Naples with marine samples. The Electron Microscopy Hands-On Course: sample preparation and imaging of marine environmental samples arises from a very strong and active collaboration between the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn and the EMBL in Heidelberg.
The aim of the course is to provide a theoretical and practical training on electron microscopy starting from the basics to the preparation of samples with high pressure freezing and image acquisition using TEM and SEM.

« L’équipe du Pr Shokrollah Elahi (Université de l’Alberta) a étudié 78 patients atteints de #CovidLong un an après l’infection, et 62 témoins sans symptômes persistants. (…)

Chez les femmes, les chercheurs ont trouvé des signes d’hyperperméabilité intestinale, autrement dit, un « intestin qui fuit ».

Les patientes présentaient des taux sanguins élevés de :
- Protéine de liaison aux acides gras intestinaux,
- Lipopolysaccharide (LPS),
- Protéine soluble CD14,
Ces marqueurs indiquent une inflammation intestinale pouvant devenir systémique. (…)

Autre découverte : une diminution de la production de globules rouges (voire une anémie) chez les femmes atteintes. (…)
