In our cultural heritage center, I often find that outsiders consider #embroidering #women to be a little stupid or too conformist.
But #embroidery can be very political and a social glue! Work in progress! I have almost finished the outline and then I will create shades inspired by the #blackwork technique 😊 For the outermost outline I decided to use 4 threads while for the inside only one. The most fun (and also delicate) part? The details of the face and especially the eyes! 👀

Before you start embroidering or hand sewing, run your fingers down your thread 3-5 times. This is called "loving" your thread and helps it not tangle or knot on itself.

I've been interested in pursuing anotber crafty hobby for a long time, and I'm always drawn to beautiful #embroidery. I imagine I'd have to start with basic patterns, but the goal would be designing and making those intricate art pieces with lots of layers and little pearls and such.

I also made a little pocket because I needed a little pocket. Scraps of the lining for the stays and cotton batiste from the accessories, cotton thread, silk buttonhole thread. Hand sewn, own design, likely not historically accurate. I definitely recommend real embroidery thread, this was not the best experience 😂
