For the trained thinker, well versed in scientific systematized
#skepticism, the
#internet is a powerful tool that can enhance ones ability to do so. A large amount of this is because it goes to multiple sources and tracks down the chain and finds trustworthy sources, and then drops then as trustworthy the second they begin to show they are unreliable or inconsistent.
For the uninformed, untrained and undisciplined, the internet is an
#enabler . It will tell you anything you want to hear and
#AI is going to be even worse creating fake elaborate theories to explain why nothing is your fault or what you are doing is 100% right and fine, citing fake papers, new articles, studies and journals all created out of whole cloth by AI.
Enablers are toxic and often a form of control because it creates learned helplessness and co dependency on them, trapped in a mind prison. Its a form of
#abuse . Modern
#algorithm based social media and searches are a form of abuse and control.
As Ai makes life easier, less people will put the effort in to fact check because they wont have the discipline and attention span to do so.
Maybe I'm being hyperbolic or patronizing and humans are smarter than that as a whole. A slim minority voted against Trump so maybe its a cyclical issue and the next wave will have a bounce back effect against it once they see consequences. However if AI attributes those consequences to the wrong things like a politician does, they wont learn anything from their mistakes or decisions and just double down on it.
