Encarta 1993, shown in a Windows 3.1 VM. The first edition was very primitive, and as shown, doesn't scale up in 1024x768.

Encarta 1994, shown in a Windows 98 SE VM. This edition brought Encarta to be more in-line with the design language of 3.1.

Encarta 95, shown in a Windows 98 SE VM. This is the first instance of a flat UI in the lineup.

Encarta 96, shown in a Windows 98 SE VM. Bit refined over 95's, and has the Yearbook Updates icon, which was one of it's newest features at this point.

Multiple versions of Encarta opened in Windows 98 with Microsoft Plus! 98. From top-left to bottom right: Encarta 95, Encarta 96, Encarta 97 Deluxe, Encarta 98 Deluxe, Encarta 99 Deluxe, and Encarta 2000 Deluxe.

I dug deep into the #Encarta rabbit hole lately, and was amazed by how you can at least run 11-12 years worth of Encarta on #Windows 98.

For the sake of my sanity, and my disk storage (I haven't gotten around with some spring cleaning), I have '95 to 2001 installed.

During my nap I had a dream that an old shop I used to work for had re-opened in an attempt to ride the nostalgia wave.

It used to be called The Natural World, and it was probably the best place I ever worked. Selling crystals, telescopes, science kits, dinosaur toys. Oak colour shelving, World music playing in the background.

In the dream we were still filling the shelves, but using CRT wide screen TV's as space fillers.
