Last week I attended an event by @klimatriksdagen on #energytransition - it was interesting and educational!
My key takeaways:
1: #windpower has decreased in price by 63% since 2009. #nuclear power, has increased in price by 49%! 😮
2: Politics should remove fossil fuel #subsidies and invest in #energyefficiency !
3: Phase out #plastics from waste to reduce district heating #emissions
4: Secure a #sustainable #energy supply. Invest in #pumpedhydro & promote local #energycommunities 🌞🌬

In Finland it used to be difficult for housing associations and other multi-apartment buildings to produce solar energy for their residents. A few years ago an #EnergyCommunities arrangement called #hyvityslaskenta was introduced. So the residents can now agree to build a shared PV rooftop installation, and the produced energy can be allocated on a pro-rata basis to residents without distribution costs or taxes.

A new map allows French people to join - or start - an energy project in their neighbourhood.

Renewable Energy Communities allow local renewable electricity production to find matching supply (incl. demand-side flexibility), aptly described by the 🇫🇷 word: autoconsommation collective.

So far in Finland it is only allowed to sell electricity directly to neighbors if they are on the same plot of land. Village-wide sharing schemes require that the distribution utility manages it. The #Lemene project piloted the technology in an industrial zone, but they ran into legal issues with the monopoly.
