¿Qué es el Examen Periódico Universal (EPU)?
El EPU es un proceso único: todos los países evalúan y son evaluados por sus pares ante el Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU. Cada Estado explica qué ha hecho para garantizar los derechos de su población, luego los demás países formulan observaciones y recomendaciones que ayuden a mejorar esas políticas.
📅 El 5 de noviembre, 🇵🇦 Panamá presentará su informe ante la comunidad internacional, dentro del Cuarto Ciclo del EPU (2022–2027).
La sociedad civil también participa:
Organizaciones, colectivos y defensoras/es de derechos humanos presentan informes alternativos, participan en reuniones informativas y hacen seguimiento a las recomendaciones que el país acepte.
Su participación es clave para que el proceso sea transparente, inclusivo y con impacto real.
Este año, más de 110 organizaciones panameñas nos articulamos para mostrar la realidad desde nuestras comunidades y exigir mejores condiciones de vida para todas las personas.

8/ Junto a Internet Bolivia presentamos un informe al #EPU destacando los desafíos pendientes en DDHH digitales en Bolivia. Señalamos la necesidad de prevenir, investigar y sancionar la violencia de género en línea.
4/ Muchas recomendaciones del #EPU aplican también al ámbito digital. Por ejemplo, Israel destacó la necesidad de proteger la libertad de expresión de defensores de DDHH y reforzar la legislación contra la violencia de género.
