Dear #eucommission, if you want to counteract #cookiefatigue then don't bend over to tech companies by removing cookie banners.
Instead, make it mandatory to have simple 'accept all' and 'reject all' buttons, and optionally a 'choose' button and have them all equally prominent.
Also, a browser setting for 'always accept all' and 'always reject all''. Or make access to the Do-Not-Track toggle easier. And above all, make 'opt-in' mandatory rather than 'opt-out'

This is a fascinating perspective and is illustrative of how the endless gas-lighting by these technologies, their acolytes, their sycophants, and their owners have made it almost impossible to judge reality anymore.

For anyone wondering how things have devolved so rapidly in the #EU on this front, here is your answer. Now that the vast majority of US citizens are barely living week to week on the verge of falling into financial insolvency at any moment, and many having to even able to access food for themselves and their families; the very companies responsible for creating those conditions have now moved over here and have been working hard to create those same conditions and outcomes in the hopes that threatening us with removing or delaying access to the latest iPhone, or having access to fewer camera filters, would be convincing enough enough for us to trade our rights, environment, and economic future for in exchange. Sadly it seems there is an entire population of people in #Brussels who have fallen for this second rate faustian bargain.

And a plea if anyone from the @EUCommission cares to read this, let me be plain. We do not want sacrifice the rights, safety, protections, and privacy of ourselves and future generations for whatever short term gains you been led to believe are possible and that we've been missing out on. We're fine not having the latest AI bots and image filters in our chat, we don't care if our personal data isn't included in our google search and we have to painstakingly switch the tab to where it lives, we don't need the latest feature to talk to on our phone. Access to any of those things do not make our lives materially better. We all can see happens when those protections are removed and private industry is allowed access by simply looking what is happening in the USA. The current society and system in USA should be looked at as a cautionary tale, not an aspirational goal. We do not want what they have, we are not missing out, we are not falling behind, please stop trying to force this regression on us. The ONLY path that leads to one where our lives becoming materially worse, so why are you insisting on repeating all their same mistakes?

Do you know if they are already engaged working with the @EC_DIGIT to help guide them away from making this horrible mistake before it is too late (see link from @noybeu at end of post)? Is there anything "we" can do to help or efforts to coordinate. In your interviews, podcasts, and writings you regularly mention the #gdpr and #dma as the only real consumer protections left in the world, and the only thing slowing down the, now seemingly inevitable, ameri-#enshittification of EU. Would you be willing to bring mainstream and public awareness to this development in your future talks/interviews regarding #enshittification?
