Have you noticed how, exactly as I predicted, the “wait and see, with the hand on the button” Fedi admins willing to give Genocide Inc. the benefit of the doubt still haven't preemptively blocked P92 “Threads” despite Facebook having already shown its inability or more likely unwillingness to moderate their platforms (including the aforementioned Threads) properly when it comes to misinformation and harassment?

What's your threshold for medium/large? Of the instances I know are on the #faceblock, the instance I'm on has a couple thousand users and ~400 MAUs, and mastodon.bida.im has 20K users and 1.6K MAUs

Meta is poised to unveil a new app that appears to mimic Twitter — a direct challenge to the social media platform owned by Elon Musk.

A listing for the app, called Threads, appeared on Apple’s App Store, indicating it would debut as early as Thursday.

@hrefna Implementing the how the most desired #ActivityPub features function (technically and in the #UX) before #GAFAM decides for us, will protect us more than the whole #Faceblock debate, regardless whether our instances decide to #DefederateMeta or not.

Just imagine if it's possible to easily move posts from Mastodon.social to Facebook, but not the reverse? Or if people deciding what instance to use are told they can only use #Meta to have their messages be secure and *cough* private? 🤢 🤮

If you all want to make this place anti-capitalist, I am onboard with that, but we need to be clear about our goals.

This post is short, succinct, and pretty much encapsulates the experience I've had with the attitudes of people here on Mastodon.

I am not a fan of Facebook, or of any corporations somehow taking over the Fediverse, but the idea of locking out everybody who uses a service simply because the service is corporate seems to fly in the face of what so many people here were pushing for just a few months ago.

Either you believe in openness or you don't.
