I'm writing this on a #Fairphone4. I've been pleased with it during the years I've had it, and I have no plans to replace it until the software updates stop coming. The phone is still fast and responsive, and it holds on to a mobile signal better than my previous phone.

I like the fact that I can affordably change the battery when I need to. I like the fact that, when Mrs Wife dropped her Fairphone4 down the toilet, I was able to open it up and dry it out and then it worked perfectly.

My only reservation is the camera, which isn't top-notch, but I see that the #Fairphone5 has a 50MP camera. Check the reviews and see what you think. Or maybe an FP5 owner will join this thread.

I did several testrecordings: with my old Smartphone (Samsung S7), my Notebook, the Fairphone5 (without + with Headphones connected via official FP audiojack adapter). The Fairphone5 sound is terrible muffled, high frequencies are missing at all. I send the recordings + Frequencyanalysis to Support. Support ask me to send in the Fairphone (but I need it everyday for work+private, and I wonder if they can fix this... )
Maybe bad sound comes from the used encoder, hopefully not from a bad hardware (microphone).

Dachte ich geb hier mal n kurzes Zwischenfazit zu CalyxOS auf Fairphone5.
Also, grundsätzlich bin ich bisher im Großen und Ganzen zufrieden. Es sind aber noch ein paar Kleinigkeiten, die mich stören.
Zum einen, wenn man das Smartphone neu startet, erscheint eine Meldung, dass dieses Smartphone ein anderes Betriebssystem hat. In gelber Schrift. Das bleibt ca 1 min, bis es dann in CalyxOS bootet und das Emblem von Calyx erscheint.
Zum anderen, die Tastatur. Generell ist sie ok, aber die lernende Funktion für die Wortvorschläge ist nicht die Beste. Die meisten Wörter erscheinen über der Tastatur erst, wenn ich sie schon fast fertig geschrieben habe. Bisschen nervt mich das. Was mich mehr stört, sind die fehlenden Pfeiltasten < > um in einem Wort vor und zurück gehen zu können für Korrekturen. Ohne die Pfeiltasten muss ich immer das ganze Wort nochmal neu beginnen. Werde mich mal nach anderen Tastaturen umschauen. Vllt wirds dann besser.
Aber ansonsten alles ganz gut. Kamera gut, Lautsprecher gut (auch für Musik ganz akzeptabel), Telefonieren ok, Kompatibilität mit MicroG und Aurora Store auch gut, Wlan und mobile Daten auch gut.
Was ich besonders toll fand, sind die optischen Einstellungen für die Oberfläche, sowas wie Farben usw. 😊

My #fairphone5 arrived today. The stock ROM I did try but there was way too many #GApps that I couldn't uninstall for my liking. I have installed @calyxos and have spent the afternoon installing apps and syncing with @nextcloud

My #fairphone5 has arrived in #dublin as of last night. I am getting excited. Hopefully it'll be delivered today or tomorrow 😁 #fairphone #repairability

@openmobile as someone who has recently ordered (awaiting delivery) of a #FairPhone5 what made you choose #IodeOS vs #calyxos ? I ask as I am considering both for my new phone

@stovis @AndiBarth @mntmn charging works via the monitor, but the USB Hub of the monitor is not detected. So keyboard, etc is connected by bluetooth in my setup. The performance is fine for me, e.g. Full HD youtube Video playback is smooth. Also using GIMP to scale down the attached screenshot. The #Fairphone5 doesn't get hot at all, expect you start a kernel build on all cores, than you can feel it little.

@AndiBarth the #pinetab2 should be supported in #debian #trixie. Bluetooth doesn't work and wifi is unstable and the perfomance is a bit weak.
The #Fairphone5 with #mobian, basicly works also as a mobile PC. External display via USB-C/DP works, as well as bluetooth and wifi. Internal audio is under development..
The MNT pocketreform from @mntmn https://shop.mntre.com/products/mnt-pocket-reform would be my favourite device if I would by today. It is even shipped with #debian
The #uConsole (https://www.clockworkpi.com/product-page/uconsole-kit-rpi-cm4-lite) runs well with #postmarketos ..

@thelastpsion a fairphone? Currently use my #fairphone5 as my daily driver and it's got excellent aftermarket updates and replaceable batteries

Mein nächstes Smartphone als Ersatz für das Galaxy A52 wird wieder ein Samsung Galaxy sein, weil ich mich so an einen großen Akku gewöhnt habe, der fast 2 Tage hält. 😉

Ich bin noch unentschlossen zwischen dem A55 und dem A56 als kommendes Upgrade. 🤔

Das Fairphone 5 ist ein nettes Konzept, hat mich aber noch nicht überzeugt, vielleicht klappt es mit der 6 Generation. 🙄
